Simile: Ferry again seems small and difficult to place, diminutive, almost lose in the darkness.
Use of colour: two possibilities. Yellow associated with sun and light (positive). Or, diminished brightness. Not quite white, pristine, clear.

Simile: delicate, fragile, slight in appearance. It seems almost irrelevant to the action. Yet, it is what the speaker notices.
Symbolism: drawn to the light of the city; glitter and sparkle. However, it also suggests threat as this often leads to destruction.

Connotation/symbolism: mysterious, threatening, ominous
